Channing Tatum explains Gambit’s Rocky Road

Channing Tatum was originally supposed to have his own film gambit film, but it all started when the characters were still owned by Fox. When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, the project was delayed and eventually put on hold. So far, there are no official plans for a gambit Film, but the current press that the character is getting, thanks to Deadpool and Wolverine couldn’t hurt his chances.

“First it was at Fox and I worked on it for about six years to get the standalone done,” Tatum explained. “And then right at the 1-yard line, we were about to make the movie and then Fox got bought by Disney. And Kevin (Feige) said, ‘Look, I love Gambit, I just don’t know how to do it right now. I don’t know how it fits into what we’re doing.'”

The actor continued hopefully: “Now we have cracked the code a bit and hopefully…” When asked if he would participate in the film, Tatum joked: “I would kill kittens. I would do many horrible things to achieve that.” He also had nothing but praise for Reynolds: “I can honestly say that there is no one more classy and caring than this man. He truly brought Gambit back from the grave. I will be eternally grateful to him.”
