Rochester Hills doctor charged with sexual assault of 6-year-old

A Rochester Hills doctor already accused of secretly filming people in locker rooms at a local swim school is facing 17 new felony charges in connection with a string of alleged sexual assaults on a 6-year-old child in 2023 and 2024, which he also recorded. according to the public prosecutor’s office.

Dr. Oumair Aejaz was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of second-degree sexual conduct, three counts of aggravated child sexual abuse, three counts of taking images of an unclothed person and six counts of one Using computers to commit a crime. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Aejaz’s attorney, Mariell Lehman, did not respond for comment.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Aejaz allegedly sexually assaulted the child and recorded the assault.

“We know there are additional victims and we ask anyone with information to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at [email protected],” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement.

Aejaz already faces 10 felony counts for allegedly secretly recording five naked adults and children at a Goldfish swim school in Rochester and at another location that was undisclosed in August when prosecutors filed charges.

At a news conference in August, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard warned that the accused conduct was “the tip of the iceberg” and said there was much more to come. He said there could be hundreds more victims, perhaps even more than disgraced Michigan State University sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was abused.

Aejaz was arrested on August 8 and charged on August 13 with one count of committing sexually abusive acts against children in August 2023, five counts of using a computer to commit a crime and four counts of distributing or recording images of an unclothed person . The paid activity ranges from 2020 to 2023.

Aejaz is believed to have used his qualifications as a doctor to record and sexually assault people in bathrooms, hospital rooms, changing rooms, closets, bedrooms and bathrooms over a six-year period, Bouchard said.

“It goes beyond just recording videos. Physical, assault and criminal behavior occurs,” Bouchard said. “A woman is lying unconscious in her hospital bed and he is abusing her. A two-year-old thinks they’re going for a fun day at the beach and is captured naked. There is no one off limits to this sick man.”, sick man.”

In videos with yet-to-be-identified victims, Aejaz is alleged to have sexually assaulted women lying unconscious in hospital beds, McDonald said. In some of the videos, Aejaz appears on video abusing the women, Bouchard said. They have not determined whether these women are his patients or how he gained access to them.

Two young women who were filmed naked while changing into their swimsuits at Goldfish Swim School in Rochester have also filed a civil lawsuit against Aejaz. He is also the subject of two class-action lawsuits filed in Wayne and Macomb counties against him, as well as Detroit Medical Center Sinai-Grace Hospital and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

The lawsuits allege that the hospitals gave Aejaz unrestricted and unsupervised access to patients, allowing him to sexually assault and record thousands of people.
