Road rage shooting in Cambridge, MA, Sunday near MIT boathouse – NBC Boston

Two drivers have been charged after they went on a rampage in anger over the shooting on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Sunday, police said.

Shortly after 5 p.m., state and local police responded to reports of gunfire on Memorial Drive near the MIT Sailing Pavilion. A large police presence was seen following the incident.

According to state police, the two drivers who were involved in an altercation did not know each other before the incident.

One of the drivers, 65-year-old Cesar Gutierrez of Revere, allegedly struck the other driver, 30-year-old Kevin Osorio, with a blunt object. Police say Osorio then pulled out his gun and shot Gutierrez multiple times.

According to authorities, Osorio has a license to carry a firearm.

Both Osorio and Gutierrez were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Cambridge police described the incident as a road rage incident and said state police will investigate because Memorial Drive is under state oversight.

Both men face charges in connection with the incident. State police say they are both expected to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court as soon as they are medically able to do so.
