Ring of Honor TV Live Results: Sammy Guevara Returns, Tag Team Title Defense

For the first time since February, Sammy Guevara will be in action tonight as part of Ring of Honor TV on HonorClub.

After his surprise comeback last week to defend Dustin Rhodes from an attack by Dark Order, Guevara will now team with Rhodes against John Silver and Alex Reynolds.

The Infantry will get another chance to win the ROH Tag Team Titles by challenging current champions The Undisputed Kingdom after issuing a challenge backstage last week. Bravo and Dean failed to defeat the champions earlier this year.

Tomohiro Ishii will return to the black and red brand against Tony Nese.

Rachael Ellering will also be in action, while the Outrunners will face Stephen Barrett and Wolf Brown heads-up.

Darian Bengston will make his ROH debut against NJPW’s Robbie Eagles.

ROH power couple Johnny TV and Taya Valkyrie will be in action as TV battles Fuego del Sol while Valkyrie faces Hyan.

Ring of Honor started with a quick overview of a packed card and went straight into a big duel:

Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defeated The Dark Order (John Silver and Alex Reynolds, with Evil Uno)

Last week, Guevara made a surprise appearance in ROH when he saved Rhodes from defeat at the hands of the very mercurial Dark Order. The Order, especially Uno, feels that Rhodes is taking a place in ROH that he deserves. His winning the 6-Man Titles with the Von Erichs got on Uno’s nerves and if Guevara hadn’t interfered last week, they would have eliminated Rhodes. Guevara is the wild card here as he seems to have turned over a new leaf, but he’s still Sammy Guevera so can he be trusted?

Guevara and Silver started things off before Rhodes was tagged in for a quick double team. Considering they had never tagged together before, Rhodes and Guevara seemed very comfortable with each other and kept control of the situation during the opening part of the match. Then my head exploded when Rhodes attempted a Spinarooni in the ring, an obvious homage to his former WWE tag partner Booker T.

In an exchange with Reynolds, Rhodes appeared to injure his knee (which had been treated pretty well by Evil Uno last week). Rhodes got back to his feet and seemed fine, just in time for Evil Uno to hit the injured knee with a chair while the referee had his back turned. Silver and Reynolds took turns isolating Rhodes’ knee and brutally manhandling it while Guevara begged in the corner for a tag.

Rhodes finally managed to hit Guevara with a hot tag, literally jumping into the ring to smash Silver with a splash. Guevara attempted a Spanish Fly, but only managed a two count. One GHT later, however, Guevara managed to pin Silver and win the match for his team.

– Backstage, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena spoke with Billie Starkz. Athena said that she was getting used to Starkz disappointing her. She shouldn’t have lost her ROH Women’s TV Title at Death Before Dishonor and Athena had to strip her of her Minion status and demote her back to Minion-In-Training. Suddenly, the person who won that title, Red Velvet, appeared with Queen Aminata. They addressed the cheating that occurred at Death Before Dishonor. Aminata said that she went to the board and booked a tag match for all four women tonight.

Taya Valkyrie with Johnny TV defeated Hyan

Valkyrie has had an interesting few months in ROH. She’s supported her husband Johnny TV in his endeavors and has had decent but ultimately pointless matches in the Women’s Division. Is tonight the night she heads out to face some of the heavyweights in ROH?

Hyan has been with ROH since 2021, but Valkyrie didn’t really respect her tenure, calling her “an embarrassment” to the crowd. Valkyrie was in control of the match, landing some devastating knee strikes to a cornered Hyan. The two battled back and forth as chants of “women’s wrestling” erupted around the arena.

Hyan could barely keep up with Valkyrie’s sheer power and after a Shania Pain, Valkyrie pinned her for the 1-2-3.

-Backstage, Melissa Santos interviewed Griff Garrison and Maria. But before they could begin, the SAP came and interrupted. Serpentico and Angelico demanded another match for Serpentico’s old mask. Maria thought about it and then agreed, as long as Angelico was banned from the ring. Oh, and also, if Serpentico loses, he will have to take off his mask for the rest of his career! A confident SAP agreed to the terms.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven) defeated The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean)

The challenge for this match came from the Infantry last week, who interrupted another Kingdom promo about how there is no one in ROH that is their equal. Bravo and Dean have been on top form lately and seem to be worthy opponents for the champions. They also competed in their X-Men gear, which was really fun to watch.

The Kingdom threw the infantry off the Code of Honor, but they were able to evade the attack and send Taven and Bennett to the outside. The Kingdom tried to get out of the fight, grabbing their belts and running up the ramp, but the infantry caught them and brought them back into the ring. Taven and Bravo were the legal men and Dean jumped in for a couple of double attacks.

Dean and Taven worked each other over in the ring, neither holding back and both looking to end things early. There were numerous pin attempts, but kickouts were everywhere. Bennett was tagged in and caught Bravo in a sleeper, but he was able to break free. The Infantry remained on the offensive, however, until Taven turned the tide with a big suplex on Bravo.

The Kingdom then tagged in and out, beating on the isolated Dean. Bennett did a lot of taunting and strutting while Taven continued to beat on Dean until he tried to get a hot tag on Bravo. Bennett saw it coming, however, and threw him off the ring edge before the tag could be made.

Bravo was eventually tagged in and attempted a big Salute Splash and pin, but Taven prevented Bennett from pinning him. Due to a miscommunication between the champs, Bennett was left alone in the ring and Bravo and Dean attempted to hit him with Boot Camp. However, Taven came back and broke things up by distracting everyone so Bennett could punch Dean in the ass. A Hail Mary later, Bennett got the pin to retain the ROH Tag Titles in a really, really good match.

Rachael Ellering defeated Brooke Havok

Not much has been said about Ellering recently. Ellering entered the first ROH Women’s World Television Championship tournament earlier this year, facing her friend Leyla Hirsch in the first round but was unsuccessful. Havok was trained at the Nightmare Factory, so she was no flash in the pan.

Ellering outmatched Havok in terms of size and experience, but Havok was able to keep up with her from the start. Ellering didn’t seem to really want to go after Havok for some reason, but she still kept control of the fight. The crowd was absolutely dead, you could have heard a pin drop.

Ellering managed to get Havok aggressive and bloodied her nose. Havok got some energy out of that, but now that the gloves were off, Ellering had them right where she wanted them. A needlessly complicated dropkick attempt from Havok opened up an opening for Ellering, and she smashed her with a BossWoman Slam for the win.

– New ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty was joined backstage by Shane Taylor. Moriarty challenged Action Andretti to a match for the Pure Title to prove who was the best. Taylor then called out Andretti’s friends Top Flight, saying they would have to bring their best when facing Shane Taylor Promotions (now apparently called STP).

The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) defeated Stephen Wolf and Barrett Brown

The Lambo Duo! The Speedboat Dreamboats! The Youngest Men Alive! Whatever you call them, Turbo and Magnum have made the Outrunners a household name among ROH fans and you have to assume they will have a shot at the tag titles in the future. On this episode, however, the Kings of “Spin to Win” (whatever that means) faced Wolf and Brown, a relatively low-level team on the ROH roster.

This match was just the right amount of kitsch and schmaltz that the Outrunners always bring. Lots of big punches, posing and dancing around. The crowd loved it. After a rejection from their opponents, Floyd and Magnum itself a code of honor to start the game.

Wolf and Brown were in this match for one reason: to get totally beaten up, thrown around and squashed so the Outrunners would look good. And they did. I thought Wolf was broken in half after a massive clothesline. Brown didn’t fare much better, falling victim to Magnum, who used Floyd as a weapon. The Outrunners hit Total Recall and pinned Brown, paving the way for much celebration.

Robbie Eagles defeated Darian Bengston

Darian Bengston is a wrestler. So is Robbie Eagles of TMDK, so it makes sense to pit them against each other. That’s about all there is to say about this match, story-wise. Bengston, a graduate of the Nightmare Factory, also studied at the prestigious London School of Lucha Libre.

Eagles took control from the top and worked with a very technical style. Bengston was able to keep up, but it was obvious that he was not as experienced as Eagles. He was faster than Eagles and that was evident as the two ran the ropes and Bengston ended up taking a heavy double kick.

Eagles set up Bengston in the corner for a Rock The Bells, an absolutely devastating series of knee strikes to the face. Eagles kept trying for a Ron Miller Special, but Bengston countered every time. Bengston proved to be a really hard hitting striker, but Eagles finally nailed the Ron Miller Special and Bengston was forced to give up.
