FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) – A recent early morning accident near the intersection of U.S. 49 and Mississippi 42 resulted in a traffic delay of about an hour.

A post on the Rawls Springs Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page said emergency crews responded to a 911 call about a two-car accident around 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

When firefighters arrived, they found both vehicles with significant damage in the southbound lanes of US 49.

All occupants left the vehicles, RSVFD said.

The report said emergency crews immediately began a traffic stop and medical evaluation. One driver reported minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. All other passengers reported no injuries, RSVFD said.

The southbound lane of US 49 was closed for about an hour, the post said.

The Forrest County Fire Department, AAA EMS and the Mississippi Highway Patrol also quickly arrived on scene.
