Rebecca Ferguson joins the cast of The Magic Faraway Tree

Rebecca Ferguson (Silo) has joined the cast of The magical faraway treethe upcoming adaptation of Enid Blyton’s children’s novel series. Ferguson will play Dame Snap, the fearsome headmistress.

“Rebecca has a commanding screen presence, is one of the finest actresses of her generation and will be an electrifying addition to our film,” director Ben Gregor said in a statement to Deadline.

Who is in the cast of “The Magic Faraway Tree”?

Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) and Claire Foy (The Crown) star in The Magic Faraway Tree as Tim and Polly Thompson, a married couple who move to the English countryside with their children Beth, Joe and Fran. The family discovers a magical tree that transports them to magical lands.

The Magic Faraway Tree cast includes Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) as Silky, Nonso Anozie (Sweet Tooth) as Moonface, Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer) as Dame Washalot, Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses) as Saucepan Man, Mark Heap (Benidorm) as Mr. Oom Boom Boom, Oliver Chris (My Lady Jane) as Mr. Watzisname and Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous)., Hiran Abeysekera (“Life of Pi”) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (“Gangs of London”).

The official synopsis reads: “Soon after the family arrives in the country, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric inhabitants, including beloved characters Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot and Saucepan Man. At the top of the tree, they are transported to spectacular and fantastical lands, and through the joys and challenges of their adventures, the family learns to find and appreciate each other for the first time in years.”

Gregor (Cuckoo) directs The Magic Faraway Tree from a screenplay by Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2). Producers include Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Danny Perkins and Jane Hooks.

Filming for “The Magic Faraway Tree” is currently taking place in England at Shinfield Studios. The film does not yet have a release date.
