Night 3 of The voice The Battle Rounds featured six straight showdowns, two coach steals and one very unexpected cliffhanger.

Twelve talents Agree The hopefuls competed against each other on Monday’s episode, hoping to beat their respective dueling mates to advance to the next round of the competition, the Knockouts, which is imminent. It was an episode full of close calls and difficult decisions as coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé grappled with whose dreams they should keep alive and whose dreams they should prematurely end.

Outstanding fight of the episode

The battle between Team Reba’s Creigh Reipe and Lauren-Michael Sellers may not have been the flashiest – there were arguably more exciting duels on Monday’s episode – but their emotional cover of “You Will Be Found,” an original ballad from the Dear Evan Hansen Broadway musical convinced us. The ingredients were there from the start. During rehearsals, their harmonies and expressive delivery touched the nerve of McEntire, who was visibly exhausted after the rehearsal run.

When it came time for the duo to compete, their duet exceeded all expectations. After the performance, Stefani had trouble identifying a winner because Reipe and Sellers were so evenly matched. “I kept going back and forth between winners and ended up getting stuck,” she said.

Reluctantly she chose Reipe. Bublé was equally impressed, explaining that “on a show called The voiceall of them have the voice.” Snoop leaned toward Sellers because he felt “her voice was more controlled.”

It all came down to McEntire. The country star praised Sellers for his “wild ferocity” and for the “I know where I’m going and that’s where I’m going to end up (performance)” attitude.” She praised Reipe more succinctly, saying he “could have been a beach boy can”.

Ultimately, McEntire chose Sellers as the battle winner. “You want to hear someone bring you joy,” she explained, adding that “the women watching are really going to fall in love with them.”

Would McEntire have left? other Bublé chose Reipe – it was so close – that Bublé was willing to use his “steal” to get Sellers.

“I wanted to save her,” he admitted to a surprised McEntire.

Two “steals” (and a cliffhanger)

The opening fight of the episode led to the first “bargain” of the evening. After Team Reba’s R&B crooner Deon Jones was eliminated in favor of rock ‘n’ roll singer Danny Joseph after performing James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” he was quickly snapped up by Stefani and kept his Agree Live hopes.

“I had to steal Deon, I couldn’t let him go home,” Stefani said. “Seems like he can do almost anything with his voice. He is not only a good singer but also a great artist.”

He wasn’t the only contestant who got another chance. The episode’s final battle between Team Stefani’s four-chair turns, Austyns Stancil and Jose Luis, was a near-perfect performance. After going back and forth on who to keep, she chose youth over experience and chose Luis as the battle winner.

The other trainers didn’t want to let Stancil go and pushed their buttons as soon as they got the chance. It was like the blind auditions again, with McEntire, Snoop and Bublé trying to win over Stancil. Snoop had the funniest argument when he said, “I wanted you the first time but I didn’t get you. I wanted you the second time and I’m going to get you.”

Fans will learn who Stancil’s new coach will be. While it would be anyone’s taste both vocally and musically, Bublé might be a better fit, but in this season of The voice has proven to be more unpredictable than usual.

We’re heading into the fourth night of Battle Rounds, so aside from that unanswered question, expect more broken dreams and more “steals” as coaches ban their teams.
