Donald Trump attacked former ally Mark Cuban on Saturday. “Mark Cuban is a loser. While in the White House he stopped answering calls and went rogue,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “A weak and pathetic ‘bully,’ he doesn’t get anything done.” But he ended the barrage of insults by attacking something Trump truly values: his target’s golf game, just as he did at the debate earlier this year Joe Biden did. “Really low club head speed, a total non-athlete!”

Speaking at a rally in support of Kamala Harris on Thursday, Cuban criticized Trump’s business acumen. “I learned a lot about business, including how tariffs work,” Cuban said. Trump seems to “think China will pay for it,” adding, “This is the same guy who thought Mexico would pay for the wall.”

In the post, Trump included a clip of a vocal supporter and fellow billionaire Elon Musk speaking at a campaign rally in support of Trump on Friday. Musk jumped into the conversation about Cuban, telling attendees, “I saw an interview with Mark Cuban and, what’s her name again, Rachel Maddow… but I couldn’t tell who was which.”

Cuban spoke with Maddow on Tuesday about his past dealings with Trump. The couple initially got along well – in 2015, the Cuban considered becoming Trump’s vice president during his first presidential campaign. But the relationship soured after Cuban “realized pretty quickly that Trump wasn’t the best thing that could happen to politics and it had been a very long time since he had said anything nice about Trump and his political prospects,” Maddow said .

Cuban had no plans to break that streak on Tuesday night. He told Maddow, “There’s really no good reason to vote for Donald Trump as the economic candidate,” adding, “You know, in business, whether you’re a small business or a very large business, you want stability.” You don’t want to wake up one morning as the CEO of John Deere and suddenly find out you have a 200% rate.”

Trump has repeatedly expressed support for tariffs that could be as high as 60% on goods imported from China. He has argued that the higher import tax would bring increased revenue to the United States and allow it to reduce tax rates without increasing inflation. The plan was planned and described as “dangerous.”

Apparently offended by Cuban’s continued criticism of him and his praise of Harris, Trump also shared a link to an August Fox News article about a poll Cuban conducted among his supporters on X. Cuban asked, “Whose person and character would you like to see young? Children grow up to have?” Trump won the poll on the Musk-owned platform 68.9% to 31.2%.
