The Dodgers defeated the Yankees for the third straight time, won Game 3 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium and are now one win away from a championship anyway. Here are some post-game reactions from many of the attendees of Monday night’s affair in New York.

Freddie Freeman’s home run in the first inning gave the Dodgers an immediate lead, setting a record of three straight games with a home run. That was an assist from his starting pitcher, who Freeman recognized after the game.

“Walker Buehler, he’s done this his whole career. Big games, big moments, steps up when you need him.” Freeman told Ken Rosenthal on Fox immediately after the game. “Five strong, strong innings, and our bullpen came in and did a great job. That’s what you have to do, you have to make a pitch in October and that’s what we did.”

The Dodgers’ pitching allowed three or fewer runs in eight of their 14 postseason games, all victories.

Buehler, who pitched five scoreless innings to extend his streak to 12 consecutive postseason innings without a run, was asked about his four-seam fastball, which has been sharper in the cold in his last two starts in New York.

“I think it’s less about this pitch and more about me being able to address some of the arguments that you’re protecting the other things.” Buehler said during his postgame media release. “Then you can make the bigger throw with two hits instead of one hit. It just gives you a little more freedom.”

Kiké Hernández had two hits and drove in one of the Dodgers’ four runs in Game 3. He reached base in 10 of his 11 starts this October, hitting .302/.362/.488 with six RBI and nine runs scored.

“I think there are certain players, Kiké on the position player side, Walker on the pitcher side, that just really thrive in the postseason.” said manager Dave Roberts during his post-game media release. “I think guys like those two can basically throw away the regular season and know they’re going to get the best out of them in the postseason.”

Hernández had more praise for Buehler, who now has a career postseason ERA of 3.07 in 18 starts.

“Walker was Walker in October” Hernández told Kirsten Watson on SportsNet LA. “He wants the ball in the big game. He shows up every now and then. He shows up and gives us innings, and today he was able to play five and get the W.”

Teoscar Hernández had the biggest defensive play of Game 3, throwing Giancarlo Stanton to the plate from left field in the fourth inning to keep the Yankees off the scoreboard up until that point.

“I’m putting a lot more effort into defense this postseason. “For me it is more important to help the team in defense than to bat, because of our formation, because of the players who did their job in batting.” Hernández told Tom Veducci on FS1 after the game. “I take a lot of pride in my defense so I can help this team win.”
