Ravens waive veteran pass rusher; Keaton Mitchell is expected to be active

Ahead of the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 10 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team made moves to clear another roster spot. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue was waived in hopes of bringing him back to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The purpose of clearing a roster spot is in anticipation of the Ravens adding running back Keaton Mitchell to the active roster. He has been fully involved in training over the last two weeks and looked exceptionally better on his first return to training.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Keaton Mitchell could play this week, but did so without revealing any competitive information.

“There is a chance,” Harbaugh said. “There’s always a chance.”

Last season, Mitchell was an engine for the Ravens’ rushing offense, providing 396 yards and two touchdowns on 47 carries, an astounding 8.4 yards per carry. He also added another threat in the receiving game with 93 yards on nine receptions. If he can return to form, he would be a deadly addition to the Ravens’ rushing game and also the screen game, where offensive coordinator Todd Monken has greatly improved the Ravens’ offense by incorporating effective screens.
