With another week in the books, the sample size for most rookies in the league continues to grow. This allows us to see who the highest-rated first-year players are after the first six weeks of the season (120 snap minimum).

1. S Evan Williams, Green Bay Packers

PFF class: 91.4

After taking on a larger role over the last two weeks, Williams is now the NFL’s top-rated safety, albeit in a smaller sample than some of his peers. Last week, he posted a PFF grade of 93.3, allowing just nine yards in coverage and forcing one fumble.

2. TE Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders

PFF class: 85.2

The debate over the eventual Offensive Rookie of the Year winner is currently focused on quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, but the Raiders’ first-year tight end shouldn’t be overlooked. He leads all tight ends in both PFF grade and receiving yards and is one of only two at the position to have spent 100 passing plays on the field while averaging over 2.00 yards per route run.

3. QB Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

PFF class: 83.3

The Commanders may have lost to the Ravens, but Jayden Daniels continues to prove he belongs in the NFL. Against the Ravens, he posted a PFF passing grade of 80.9, going 24 of 35 for 269 yards with two touchdowns and now ranks fifth among all quarterbacks in PFF and PFF passing grade.

4. C Zach Frazier, Pittsburgh Steelers

PFF class: 82.2

Frazier ranks fourth among all centers in PFF grade this season, largely due to his dominance as a run blocker. While he’s still refining his pass protection, he’s posted a run-blocking grade above 65.0 in five of six games this season and has topped 70.0 in each of the last four weeks.

5. CB Andru Phillips, New York Giants

PFF class: 80.6

Phillips returned to the Giants’ lineup in the Sunday Night Football loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and was impressive once again. He finished the game with a PFF grade of 74.5 after allowing just 11 yards on two throws to his coverage.

6. WR Malik Nabers, New York Giants

PFF class: 80.4

Nabers has been missing the past two weeks, and his absence was evident in the Giants’ faltering offense, particularly against the Bengals. Through the first four weeks of the season, he posted an 82.0 PFF receiving grade and averaged 2.54 yards per route run.

7. CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Tennessee Titans

PFF class: 79.7

Brownlee, a fifth-round draft pick from Louisville, has started each of the last two games for the Titans and has been successful. He was targeted 12 times in coverage over the past two weeks, but allowed just six balls for a total of 21 yards. He also recorded five tackles that resulted in defensive stops.

8. EDGE Jared Verse, Los Angeles Rams

PFF class: 79.1

The Rams didn’t play this week, but Verse maintains his spot in the top 10 after a solid start to his career. He has registered a total of 20 pressures in five games in the NFL and only posted a grade below 70.0 once.

9. G Dominick Puni, San Francisco 49ers

PFF class: 78.3

A solid pass blocker, Puni has posted a PFF pass blocking rating of 67.9, allowing 11 pressures and no sacks or hits in 228 pass blocking snaps this season. However, his true value to the 49ers lies in the run game, where his 76.7 PFF run-blocking grade ranks eighth among all guards.

10. LB Jaylon Carlies, Indianapolis Colts

PFF class: 78.3

Carlies has been a key player for the Colts so far this season, impressing in coverage over the past three weeks, earning PFF coverage grades above 80.0 in all three contests. In 34 snaps in coverage this season, he has only allowed 8 yards of throws in coverage.

11. LB Edgerrin Cooper, Green Bay Packers

PFF class: 78.2

The second-round draft pick from Texas A&M set a career-high in snaps for the second straight year and had another strong performance in the Packers’ win over the Arizona Cardinals. He tied a career high with three defensive stops and posted PFF run defense and coverage grades above 70.0.

12. EDGE Laiatu Latu, Indianapolis Colts

PFF class: 78.1

Latu continues to deliver solid performances for the Colts, even though he has yet to dominate a game. Through the first six weeks of the season, he has posted PFF run defense and pass rushing grades above 70.0.

13. WR Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers

PFF class: 77.4

McConkey posted his lowest single-game PFF grade since entering the league in Sunday’s win over the Denver Broncos, but that wasn’t too bad either at 63.5. He dropped just one of the 20 catchable passes thrown his way in six weeks.

14. HB Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

PFF class: 77.2

The fourth-round draft pick from Oregon was the Buccaneers’ starter last week and set career highs in snaps (49) and carries (14). Over the last two weeks, he has forced 10 missed tackles on just 23 rushing attempts, bringing his season total to 18 missed tackles on 58 runs.

15. WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals

PFF class: 76.9

A concussion knocked Harrison out after only scoring two goals in the loss to the Packers, neither of which was saved. The fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has been on a downward trend again since the breakout game against the Rams in Week 2 and has seen his receiving yards decline in every game since.
