Raiders News: Mark Davis denies trade rumors surrounding star Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders could be in the middle of a sell-off. The team just traded away its best offensive player and All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams.

On Tuesday morning, the Raiders traded Adams to the New York Jets to reunite with his old pal Aaron Rodgers. With this move, many believe this could be the start of a massive change to the roster, which also includes superstar defenseman Maxx Crosby.

However, Raiders owner Mark Davis was quick to dispel any rumors surrounding Crosby following Adams’ departure.

Davis told Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic that any discussions with Crosby were off-limits.

“It’s unfortunate today, but there’s so much outside talk that’s not true,” Davis said. “It doesn’t come from any source. It comes from nothing. My basic thing is to never respond to any of these things because then you get trapped in this black hole. It just doesn’t happen.”

The Raiders are sticking with what they have right now, but unfortunately for them, Adams won’t be involved in that. When the Raiders traded for Adams in 2022, they thought it was the start of something special; Instead, they are back to square one.

“They have a vision and I think they’re going after it,” Davis said. “It’s not easy to do it overnight.”

The news about Crosby comes days after ESPN reported that the Raiders may have been approached by teams interested in the three-time Pro Bowler; However, Vegas declined such requests. The 27-year-old is in the middle of a four-year, $94 million contract he signed in 2022.

Crosby has often said he wants to be a “Raider for life,” and that continues to be the case as they enter Week 7 with a record of 2-4. Nothing lasts forever, and if the Raiders continue to slide downward this season, things could change.

The trade deadline is November 5th (just over two weeks away), and if the Raiders can’t make it, Crosby could move, especially since he still has a year and a half left on his four-year contract.

Las Vegas is currently last in the AFC West and has a tough schedule ahead of them. Their next three games are against the Rams, Chiefs and Bengals.

The Raiders will look to get back on track this Sunday on the road against the Rams with Crosby by their side.
