Quentin Tarantino reveals a film he will “never see” and his fans think he’s right

Quentin Tarantino is an avid cinephile, but there is one film he absolutely does not want to see – and his fans agree that this film should be avoided.

Tarantino’s encyclopedic video-store babble is present in all of his films, but in visual form: the glowing suitcase in Pulp Fiction is taken from 1955’s Kiss Me Deadly, Kill Bill’s most famous theme (“fight without honor or humanity”) comes from a 2000 Yakuza film, and long stretches of The Hateful Eight are clearly influenced by John Ford’s Stagecoach.

In other words, to make films like this, you have to a lot of films. But he also has his limits, and they have nothing to do with blood (obviously) or offensive material – he simply doesn’t want to acknowledge their existence.

This movie … is Toy Story 4Pixar’s acclaimed epilogue to its perfect trilogy (although for some reason there will be a Toy Story 5). You can listen to it in the video below (starting at 13:45):

During his appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Tarantino talks about the fallibility of trilogies. In his eyes, Clint Eastwood’s Dollars series is the best trilogy of all time, with Toy Story coming in a close second.

“With Toy Story, the third film is just great; it’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen. If you’ve seen the other two, it’s just amazing,” he explains.

“But the thing is… three years later, they made a fourth one. I have no desire to see it. They literally finished the story as perfectly as they could, so no, I don’t care if it’s good – I’m done. It may still be good, but I’m good.”

The fourth installment of Toy Story is a popular, Oscar-winning film – but the vast majority of people still agree with Tarantino. “It’s so authentic, the fourth film wasn’t necessary,” wrote one user.

“To this day I still haven’t seen the fourth film. And just like Tarantino, I have no desire to see it. Nothing will top this trilogy,” commented another.

“He’s not wrong at all. The fourth installment is perfectly fine, but it was completely unnecessary and at times feels more like fanfiction than a true sequel. And this is coming from a lifelong fan of the series,” added a third.

In the meantime, find out how to watch Quentin Tarantino’s films in order, what happened to Kill Bill 3, and what new films are coming out this month.
