Puyallup police search for semi-trailer driver who crashed into fire hydrant and flooded road

Police still do not know who hit a fire hydrant in North Puyallup about two weeks ago and caused a water pipe to burst.

Puyallup Police spokesman Captain Kevin Gill wrote in an email that as of August 14, they were still trying to locate and identify the tractor-trailer and driver.

Gill did not respond to the News Tribune’s questions this week about how investigators knew it was a tractor-trailer that struck the hydrant.

The water main burst on July 29 closed Valley Avenue East and Milwaukee Avenue East for several hours. The street was under about 10 inches of water.

The following day, the city closed one lane of Milwaukee Avenue south of the Valley Avenue intersection to repair a 14-inch water main. The lane closure lasted all day.

Anyone with information about the tractor-trailer and driver can call 253-770-3343 or email [email protected].
