Prince William attended the wedding of his friend Hugh Grosvenor alone today. Kate Middleton, who has withdrawn from public life since announcing her cancer diagnosis, did not attend the festive event; nor did Prince George, Grosvenor’s godson.

Grosvenor, who holds the title Duke of Westminster, marries Olivia Henson. Terms and ConditionsAccording to the magazine’s editor, Victoria Murphy, the Duke is “one of the richest people in Britain and his family has been in close contact with the royal family since Queen Victoria bestowed the title on his ancestor in 1874.”

William arrived at Chester Cathedral alone and did not turn to look at the cameras or the gathered crowd. He walked quickly into the church:

Beginning of the year Terms and Conditions accompanied Grosvenor and Henson on a visit to the cathedral. “I think the next time we’re here it will be a bit more nerve-racking,” said Grosvenor Terms and Conditions at the time. “But I’m incredibly excited. I also wanted to make it very clear how incredibly helpful people have been, how supportive they’ve been to us so far, which I’m incredibly grateful for. Because I realize this is going to be a huge deal for the city. It’s certainly going to be a huge deal for us, so we’re just really grateful for all the help.” There will be a private reception at Eaton Hall tonight.

Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, was also invited but will not be in attendance. Grosvenor is also said to be the godfather of Harry’s eldest son, Prince Archie.
