Preview & Prediction: Boston College Football vs. Duquesne

On Saturday afternoon, the Boston College football team will play its first home game of the first year of the Bill O’Brien era when it takes on Duquesne of the NEC. The Eagles had a very impressive win over Florida State in Tallahassee in Week 1 and are the clear favorites to beat the Dukes on Saturday, but we all know what happened last year against Holy Cross…let’s hope it’s not as close this weekend as it was then.

WHO: Boston College Eagles (1-0) vs. Duquesne Dukes (0-1)

Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA

When: Saturday, September 7, 2024

Kick-off time: 3:30 p.m. ET

Here’s how you can watch: The game will be broadcast live on ACCNX and streamed online here.

Our staff put together some great BC football content this week following the big win over Florida State. Check it out:

What you should pay attention to

  • Jacobe Robinson’s playing time? The redshirt freshman QB from Texas could be the future of the Boston College program if we lose Thomas Castellanos. I’m excited to finally see him in action in a real game.
  • The gold out. BC Football has promoted a “Gold Out” for this game after reinstating gold SuperFan shirts for the freshmen this year. Will the students actually show up in gold? Who knows! I know I’ll be wearing mine as an old man in the stands next to the band.

Tailgate treat of the week

It’s time for tailgating! I for one am looking forward to being back on Saturday afternoon. There’s nothing better than catching up with old friends, enjoying good food, drinking good beer, and maybe playing a little cornhole while the team and BC Marching Band go by. Personally, I always like to bring something fruity to tailgating to shake things up, so today I recommend the Blueberry Party Jam from Hermit Thrush Brewery in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Prediction: Boston College 69 Duquesne 0

Nice. Duquesne is an FCS team and lost to Toledo 49-10 last week. Even though BC is playing on a short week, I have no doubt they will get their act together on Saturday afternoon.
