What you should pay attention to

  • Boston College’s defensive line is officially a force to be reckoned with. They looked really impressive in the second half of the game against Western Kentucky, and Donovan Ezeiruaku scored the game-winning strip sack to give BC the win. This is a big improvement over last year and is quickly becoming one of the team’s greatest strengths.
  • Thomas Castellanos is back! After missing the game against WKU, Castellanos has returned from his undisclosed injury and will be at the helm when BC begins its ACC schedule. With his ability to improvise from failed plays and go for big gains, he allows Boston College’s offense to be at its best. It helps them gain yards, and it really opens up a ton of space for his RBs and WRs on the field too.
  • Tommy has to hurl it. UVA is putting a lot of pressure on the quarterback this season, regularly sending linebackers and safeties on blitzes. Castellanos will need to get the ball out of his hands quickly, especially Lewis Bond, if BC wants to be successful in this game.

Tailgate Treat of the Week

BC is away from home this week, so I have to decide on the best lineup to watch this game on your couch on Saturday afternoon. And for this I take a nice and simple approach Allagash northern sky. This is a really great stout to sip slowly while you sit back and enjoy fall football.

Prediction: Boston College 20, Virginia 17

UVA’s offense could deal some blows to BC’s secondary in this game. But Ezeiruaku and the defensive line will put a lot of pressure on Cavs quarterback Anthony Colandrea, and I don’t think their OL will last long. Meanwhile, with Castellanos’ return, BC will be able to dominate the running game and limit it to a somewhat low-scoring affair, which they end up winning remarkably again. Roll Eagles!
