Predicted lineup of Manchester United vs Chelsea: Premier League

Manchester United are on the verge of picking up a second win in a row this season, but first the Red Devils need to get past Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag’s time at Manchester United came to an end on October 28, just a day after the club suffered a controversial defeat against West Ham. Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been appointed as the team’s interim manager until Ruben Amorim takes over on November 11.

Van Nistelrooy led United to a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on October 30, scoring the club’s second win in their last nine games in all competitions. However, it will be more difficult for the manager to get three points against Chelsea in the Premier League, especially given the injury list that includes Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen.

This is what United’s lineup could look like on November 3rd against the Blues.

GK: Andre Onana—Onana will be looking to keep a clean sheet for United for just the second time in the club’s last eight games.

RB: Noussair Mazraoui—The defender is expected to return to the starting lineup after playing just 28 minutes on Wednesday.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt—The Dutchman has to do his best to keep Cole Palmer and Co. from the score sheet.

CB: Lisandro Martinez– The Argentine can return to his rightful place alongside De Ligt during the week after a short spell at left-back.

LB: Diogo Dalot—Dalot’s return to the left wing means the Portugal international takes on Noni Madueke, who has scored four goals for Chelsea this season.

DM: Casemiro– The former Real Madrid player scored a brace against Leicester, giving the Brazilian three goals in his last two games.

DM: Manuel Ugarte– While Eriksen is dealing with an undisclosed injury, Ugarte will be the man alongside Casemiro in a double pivot. The Uruguayan played one of his best games in the red jersey on Wednesday.

RW: Marcus Rashford– The England international faces competition from Amad Diallo but Van Nistelrooy is likely to stick with the same attackers who scored five goals during the week. Rashford will have a lot of work to do against Marc Cucurella.

AM: Bruno Fernandes– The captain scored a brace against Leicester but faces a much tougher test with Robert Sánchez between the posts.

LW: Alejandro Garnacho—Garnacho made up for his struggles against West Ham with a goal and an assist in the Carabao Cup round of 16.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund– The striker could return to the eleven after a disappointing performance from Joshua Zirkzee. Højlund starts the game with just two goals in all competitions.
