Powerball player narrowly misses out on $409 million jackpot – but still wins big in Washington

A Powerball ticket sold in Washington won $1 million but narrowly missed the $409 million jackpot, lottery officials say.

The ticket matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing on Wednesday, Oct. 16, Washington’s Lottery said.

No one won the top prize, which rises to an estimated $437 million and has a cash value of $210.3 million in the next drawing on Saturday, Oct. 19, the national Powerball website said.

The winning numbers were 4, 30, 39, 44 and 60, with a Powerball of 11, the lottery said. The power play was 2.

Two tickets sold in Illinois and one in California also matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball.

Nearly 635,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the U.S. also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.

The Powerball jackpot has not been claimed since Aug. 19, when a California player won the $44 million top prize, lottery officials said.
