Declaring that he “loves Puerto Rico,” Donald Trump continued his efforts to do damage control with the crucial group of voters in Pennsylvania after a comedian called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” at his rally in New York last week.

Trump brought Roberto Clemente Jr., the son of a former Pittsburgh Pirates baseball player, to the stage to give his endorsement. Clemente is Puerto Rican.

In another guest appearance, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly appeared to speak out in favor of Trump.

In 2015, Trump drew ridicule for saying that Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes wherever” after she questioned him during a Republican presidential debate.

Although Kelly left Fox News shortly after the incident and worked briefly at NBC, Kelly remains firmly behind Trump.

“He will not view our boys as second-class citizens,” she told the crowd in an appeal to the men.

“Guys like you, guys like this, who have calluses on their hands, who make a living with beards and tattoos… (men who) don’t want to be judged by people like Oprah and Beyoncé, who…” will never face the consequences of (Harris’) disastrous economic policies.”
