Police investigations are ongoing after the incident led to the closure of the Fitchburg school

Fitchburg police responded to Goodrich Academy at 1:59 p.m. after a report of an assault. When police arrived at the scene, they found a student who had suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound.

The victim was treated at the scene and safely transported to a local hospital.

A 15-year-old student was taken into custody and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. An initial investigation determined that this was a targeted incident and that there were no further threats to other students.

Fitchburg Police will continue to investigate.

Fitchburg Public Schools (FPS) has issued an emergency declaration regarding the closure of a high school.

According to FPS, Goodrich Academy implemented the lockdown protocol on Wednesday afternoon. According to her social media, all students and staff were safe and police were on scene.

The lockdown has now been lifted and the school has issued an early dismissal.

The incident is still under investigation.
