Pink defies gravity with a powerful stunt concert at Motown

DETROIT – You won’t go to many music concerts in your life that are essentially a Cirque du Soleil show. In short, this is what it’s like to attend a P!NK concert.

The global superstar brought her 2024 “Summer Carnival” tour to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Monday, October 14th.

And in case you missed her that night, she’s performing again at the LCA on Tuesday the 15th. You can search for tickets here.

The Script opened the show with an energetic 45-minute set that included “Breakeven” and “Hall of Fame.”

Then, at 9:05 p.m., P!NK not only took the stage, but descended from above on a bungee cord. And that was indicative of how this night would turn out.

She performed some of her biggest hits with “Get the Party Started,” “Raise Your Glass,” “Who Knew,” “Just Like a Pill” and “What About Us.”

As fans tried to catch their breath, P!NK, a spark plug, danced across the stage, towering about 100 feet into the crowd. She was supported by a full band, three backing singers and a number of backing dancers.

“This is like the perfect building. I can see everyone,” she shouted between songs. “Thank you so much for coming over and playing with us.”

Not only were P!NK’s numerous aerial stunts visually stunning, but her powerful voice was absolutely perfect, hitting every single note with ease.

She had plenty of humorous conversations with the audience and was very energetic and playful with her interactions between songs.

Her two children also appeared. One was planned, one seemed not to be. 8-year-old Jameson Moon came on stage wearing face paint as P!NK guessed what song their music director was playing on the piano on the show. She seemed surprised when she asked where his father was.

Later, 13-year-old Willow Sage played “Cover Me in Sunshine” with her. P!NK joked that her daughter received the loudest cheers at every show on the tour. And that may be true, because Willow received a well-deserved round of applause. You could tell how proud mom was.

This concert wasn’t just stunts and dancing. P!NK had some intimate moments as he sat down at the piano and listened to a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love.”

She also did some acoustic songs with “Please Don’t Leave Me”, “Don’t Let Me Get Me”, “When I Get There” and “I am Here”.

Other hits included “Just Give Me a Reason,” “Perfect,” “Just Like Fire” (“Heartbreaker” Mash-Up), “Trustfall,” “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” and “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” “. ”

She also performed a powerful rendition of 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up,” a song she says is one of her favorites. At the age of 13, she was called by the police for singing this song too loudly, as she says, coming out of her bedroom window.

And no one does an encore like P!NK. Never leave your show early. She straps on a harness and flies through the crowd. Not just a little bit out into the audience. No. She actually gets close to people who have nosebleeds. It’s a sight to behold.

There are very few concert artists like P!NK. Their show is as original as it gets and it showcases one of the most powerful voices in the music business.
