Philadelphia officials deny Donald Trump’s “fraud allegations” and demand he provide evidence

Philadelphia officials are pushing back against former President Donald Trump’s Election Day claim without evidence that there was “a lot of talk about massive fraud in Philadelphia.”

Trump posted the allegation on his Truth Social account at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday as voters in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania continued to go to the polls.

Shortly after taking office, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner issued a statement contradicting Trump’s claim and calling on the former president to provide facts or evidence to support the claim.

“The only talk of massive fraud came from one of the candidates, Donald J. Trump. There is no factual basis within law enforcement to support this wild claim,” Krasner wrote on X. “We have filed complaints and allegations of impropriety.” All day long. If Donald J. Trump has any facts to support his wild claims, we don’t want them now.

Philadelphia City Commissioner Seth Bluestein, a Republican, also denied that Trump’s claim was true.

“There is absolutely no truth to this claim. It’s another example of disinformation. The vote in Philadelphia was safe and secure,” Bluestein wrote on X.

Bluestein added that the City Commissioners Office has been in regular contact with the RNC and has responded to any report of election irregularities.

About two hours after Trump’s post, Bluestein and City Commissioner Omar Sabir held a brief press conference.

“To be clear, elections in Philadelphia are, and always have been, safe, simple and secure.

Pennsylvania will be closely watched throughout the night Tuesday in the second straight presidential election as both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris attempt to secure its 19 electoral votes.
