Person drowns near 2024 CrossFit Games site in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas (KTVT) — A person drowned in Marine Creek Reservoir Thursday morning, according to MedStar.

The drowning occurred near the venue of the 2024 CrossFit Games.

Witnesses at the scene told CBS News Texas that they saw the person go under water and not resurface.

A CBS News Texas helicopter flew over the reservoir, showing rescue workers pulling a body from the water and placing it in a body bag. The helicopter also showed several CrossFit Games participants looking out over the reservoir.

This is the first time the CrossFit Games have been held in Fort Worth. Previously, they were held in Carson, California and Madison, Wisconsin.

The 2024 CrossFit Games began on Thursday and will run through Sunday. Specific details about the games are no longer listed on the CrossFit website.
