POCATELLO – Power County firefighters are on the scene of a fire west of Pocatello near the JR Simplot plant.

Power County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers confirmed a fire in the area as of 5:30 p.m., but have very few details at this time.

Residents of the Michaud Creek area are being evacuated.

According to witnesses, the fire broke out shortly before 5 p.m.

The Idaho Transportation Department’s 511 website reports that Interstate 86 near Pocatello Regional Airport is currently closed in both directions.
