On TikTok, Madeleine said her first “divisive” decision was choosing to have a wedding abroad.

She said she had been accused of being “selfish” because many people who could not afford to travel were excluded from the wedding.

However, she said, “That’s exactly the point.”

“We want to avoid the fair-weather guests who just come for an hour to watch the ceremony and pick up a free plate of food.”

“If people are going to spend the money to come all the way to Europe to attend our wedding, we must really care about them.”

Another rule of Madeleine and her fiancé is that there will be no speeches at the wedding.

“We’re just giving a speech for my father and a toast for Andrew’s father,” she said.

“And that’s it, finito, cut!”

Madeleine added that they will give their guests a dress code and tell them what to wear.

She said the rule had been criticized by people as being “tasteless” and “selfish,” but said she thought it was helpful to have a theme.

“It’s harder and more confusing when you don’t give people a dress code,” she said.

Madeleine’s video, posted under the username @madeleine_white, likely struck a chord with many people as it garnered over 2.5 million views on the video-sharing platform.

TikTok users stormed the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One person said: “Our problem with weddings abroad was always that we wanted to go but couldn’t afford it.

Wedding dress trends 2024

Sophie Creed, bridal designer and founder of bridal brand e&w Couture, has unveiled this year’s most popular wedding dress designs.

Sustainable chic

Bridal fashion in 2024 will see a major shift towards sustainability, with brides paying close attention to the fabrics used to make their dresses.

Many brides also want to wear a second-hand dress or a vintage dress.

Boho bliss

The bohemian aesthetic represents effortless and relaxed elegance – ideal for relaxed weddings. Whether in the garden, on the beach or under the stars, the boho trend is also ideal for nature-inspired weddings.

Couples opting for an outdoor wedding and bohemian-style dresses with flowing silhouettes, floral lace and whimsical details blend with the natural surroundings. It’s all about bringing the romance of nature into the wedding wardrobe.

Bohemian-style dresses often feature vintage-style lace, flowing sleeves and ethereal details that stand the test of time.

Satin elegance

Satin wedding dresses conquer the hearts of brides who appreciate the combination of modern simplicity and classic luxury.

This trend suits weddings that focus on an elegant, sophisticated aesthetic, making it the ideal choice for formal celebrations, chic city weddings, or any event where the bride sees herself in a dress that exudes sophistication and grace.

Bold romance

Oversized and daring modern models represent a change in bridal fashion.

This trend is for the bride who dares to be different, break with tradition and embrace a vibrant, contemporary aesthetic on the most important day of her life.

“To take a trip like that, you would have to save for at least a year and then you wouldn’t have a family vacation.”

A second person said: ‘If I got married anywhere else, I would feel so guilty that my friends and family would have to spend so much of their savings to be there.

“It’s important to them, but they’re not rich.”

A third person said: “The only problem with weddings abroad is that sometimes people with health problems, such as grandparents and people who don’t have a lot of money to travel, are excluded.”

A fourth person added: “Most of my relatives could not attend my cousin’s wedding because they could not afford it.

“It was heartbreaking that we couldn’t leave.”
