Penske Truck Leasing introduces electronic inspection feature for drivers

READ, PA — Penske Truck Leasing has introduced a new Electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (eDVIR) feature in its Penske Driver™ mobile app. This addition is designed to simplify the process of submitting Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports for its customers’ truck drivers.

With the new eDVIR feature, drivers can now submit their vehicle inspection reports electronically through the free Penske Driver app. This digital approach replaces traditional paper-based reports and improves efficiency and compliance.

Fleet managers benefit from instant access to these records through Fleet Insight™, Penske’s real-time fleet management platform. This real-time access helps streamline the inspection process, improve compliance, and increase overall fleet management efficiency.

“Our new eDVIR capability represents a step forward in supporting our customers’ compliance and maintenance needs,” said Brandie Searle, vice president of digital product management at Penske. “By responding to customer feedback with this highly requested capability, we enable electronic submissions and real-time visibility, enabling fleet managers to resolve issues quickly and effectively, reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.”

The eDVIR feature helps users comply with Department of Transportation regulations and is available exclusively for leased, serviced or rented Penske vehicles. It improves the repair request process by automatically sending defect reports from the telematics system to Penske’s maintenance system. Once defects are resolved, detailed mechanic notes and resolution status are fed back to the telematics system. This feedback loop provides important information such as repair shop locations, repair notes and contact information.

The Penske Driver app, used by approximately 20,000 truck drivers each month, offers a variety of features, including recording hours of service to comply with electronic recording device regulations, submitting roadside assistance requests 24/7, checking in for service visits, digitally submitting fuel receipts, and locating rental, leasing, service, parking, EV charging and fueling stations. The app also provides access to vehicle information, maintenance history and 24/7 support.

By automating the inspection reporting process and integrating it with Fleet Insight™, Penske aims to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency for fleet managers. Seamless communication between drivers and fleet managers ensures that any issues are resolved promptly and the fleet remains operational.

Penske Truck Leasing continues to innovate with digital solutions that enhance its customers’ experience and make fleet management more efficient and compliant with regulatory requirements. With the introduction of the eDVIR feature, Penske demonstrates its commitment to leveraging technology for better service delivery and operational excellence.
