Patriots legend is confident Bill Belichick could move to the Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars enter Week 7 with an unacceptable record of 1-5. Such a record is abhorrent for several reasons – one being that it all but eliminates them from the playoff race. Secondly, owner Shad Khan invested a king’s ransom into this team.

The signing of Arik Armstead and the addition of franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence are just this summer’s significant investments when previous years are taken into account.

Then Khan famously said that this was the best team in franchise history, setting the standard for a season that would be unparalleled in terms of success.

Winning now is the expectation. Make no mistake, this is the best team the Jacksonville Jaguars have ever assembled. Best players, best coaches. But most importantly, we prove it by winning now.

A loss to the New England Patriots this week would drop the Jaguars to 1-6, which could be their most game-changing game under any circumstances. A rookie quarterback in Drake Maye, a struggling team and the benefit of being in London for a full week while the Patriots have to travel and adjust.

With a loss, jobs could be lost.

One of the biggest names being considered as a possible head coach replacement is Super Bowl winner Bill Belichick. Recently, former Patriots and Belichick star tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared on the show “Up & Adams” hosted by Kay Adams.

What Gronkowski said is very revealing.

“I think Coach Belichick will pick up the phone when the Jacksonville Jaguars call and have a head coaching vacancy,” Gronkowski said. “There is no doubt about that. Coach Belichick belongs in the coaching world. I think he’s doing a great job in the media this year and taking a year off. I think he’ll be back in the NFL next year. Everyone wants to see that.” . I want to see that.

Belichick would be a perfect fit for the Jaguars. He’s close to the Khan family, and Khan’s easy-going, free-spending style would give Belichick plenty of leeway to operate in Duval. He could be his own CEO or bring in someone of his choice.

Regardless, Belichick can create a framework to set the Jaguars up for future success, whether he reverts to a GM position or finds a successor.

The squad is very talented and the key players are in place, so the 72-year-old head coach could quickly match Don Shula’s winning record.
