Patrick Beverley shares his immediate reaction to the Timberwolves’ loss

In the recent history of the Minnesota Timberwolves, few players have been as popular as Patrick Beverley. The fiery, defensive-minded guard brought a certain grit and tenacity during his only season in the Twin Cities that seemed to light a fire in everyone from his teammates and coaches to the entire fan base.

Always defensively committed, Beverley took pride in his matches and was never afraid to get in an opponent’s face to let them know that he would not cower or back down from a challenge. He had his flaws as a player like anyone else, but he has undoubtedly earned the respect and love of the entire Timberwolves community during this lightning-fast 2021-22 season.

With that in mind, it makes sense that fans would still come back in 2024 to hear his opinion on the state of the Timberwolves. He remains a beloved figure in Minnesota, and when he speaks, the fan base generally listens. That gives his assessment of Tuesday night’s season opener a little more weight than the average former player.

After the Wolves’ loss to the Lakers, Pat Bev wrote a post on X expressing his frustration with Minnesota’s style of play. “Minny looks like a diff team,” he wrote. “I’ve never seen so much isoball from them. Still early, but it will be interesting.”

It seems Beverley accurately summed up the feelings of most of the fan base after Tuesday night’s frustrating game. There will obviously be some growing pains in getting used to Julius Randle in the starting lineup, and right now it looks anything but smooth.

As Pat said, the number of isolation games was a little overwhelming. Wolves fans are used to the ball moving a lot more and it seemed like there was a bit of selfishness there at times. This is a key issue that needs to be resolved quickly as Minnesota’s daunting Western Conference schedule looms.

We should also note that Beverley set up his post at his location in Tel Aviv at 7:30 a.m. local time. That means he probably woke up around 5:00 a.m. to watch the Timberwolves play basketball, and that alone will only increase Wolves fans’ love for him.
