The Hawaii Department of Transportation advises motorists that the eastbound lanes of Kaʻahumanu Ave. (Route 32) between Kāne Street and Lono Ave. will be impacted by work for the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project from Wednesday, August 28, through Friday, August 30.

Full nighttime closure towards east

All eastbound lanes on Kaʻahumanu Ave. between Kāne Street and Lono Ave. will be closed from 9:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29 through 5:30 a.m. Friday, August 30.

Highway users traveling east on Kaʻahumanu Ave. may detour via Kāne Street to Kamehameha Ave. and take Lono Ave. to get east on Kaʻahumanu Ave.

Road closure during the day

The eastbound left turn lane and left through lane on Kaʻahumanu Ave. between Kāne Street and Lono Ave. will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, and Thursday, August 29, for preparations for excavation work.

Further day and night closures are expected in the coming weeks due to the work.

Signs and pylons will be installed in the area to guide motorway users. Special officers and traffic controllers will also be on hand to assist motorists. Please drive carefully near construction workers.
