Parker Meadows’ seven-game postseason scoring streak ties the Tigers record

Cleveland – Parker Meadows has done it all this postseason.

Now he has made Tigers history.

Meadows, the second-year center fielder, hit a one-out double in the second inning of Game 5 of the American League Division Series on Saturday. This hit gave him a seven-game hitting streak to start his postseason career, which is also the longest such hitting streak in franchise history.

Hall of Famer Charlie Gehringer, the “Mechanical Man,” had a seven-game hitting streak during his major league career in the 1930s.

Meadows entered the game with a six-game hitting streak, starting a playoff career that tied with Al Kaline, Mr. Tiger, for the second-longest hitting streak in club history.

With the double, Meadows improved to 7-for-26 in the postseason. After the opposite-field double against Cleveland Guardians starter Matthew Boyd, Meadows stole third base but was left hanging there when Boyd got Jake Rogers to go in to fly shallow right field, getting Trey Sweeney to swing out to end the threat.

The Tigers and Guardians played a winner-take-all game on Saturday. The winner will face the New York Yankees in the AL Championship Series starting Monday.
