Panthers QB Andy Dalton, family involved in car accident in Charlotte

According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, is the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident on Tuesday. Dalton was in the vehicle with his wife, children and dog. Jones adds that no one from Dalton’s family was transported by emergency medical personnel.

As for Dalton himself, the Panthers are evaluating him but haven’t provided much information beyond that.

“Panthers QB Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte today, a team spokesperson confirms to @NFLonCBS,” Jones said via X. “Dalton, his wife, three children and a dog were in the car. Luckily, no one in Dalton’s car was transported by emergency medical personnel.

“Dalton is being evaluated by the Panthers’ medical staff and the team has no further details at this time.”

Dalton last played on Sunday against the Washington Commanders and threw for 93 yards and two interceptions on 11 of 16 passes. Overall, he threw for 989 yards (6.2 yards per attempt), seven touchdowns and six interceptions in his first season with the Panthers. Five starts for Dalton with Carolina resulted in just one win, and she has struggled to find form since her deployment Bryce Young.

The Panthers travel west for their next game and face the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET. Dalton’s health will continue to be monitored following the car accident.

If he can’t go, expect Young to be next. Another quarterback is not currently on Carolina’s roster, as the former No. 1 overall pick would return to the field without a roster move.

However, everyone in Carolina is hoping that Dalton will be okay after the accident and be able to play against Denver on Sunday.
