Pakistan extend their lead to 118 runs after Sajid Khan took 7-111 in the 2nd Test against England

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — Sajid Khan took seven wickets on a reused wicket designed specifically for spinners to give Pakistan the lead against England in the second cricket Test on Thursday.

Off-spinner Khan took Pakistan into the lead with an impressive 7-111 runs in the first innings as England were bowled out for 291 in the first hour on the third day.

Pakistan, trailing 1-0 in the series after a massive innings and a 47-run defeat in the first Test, moved to 43-3 at lunch for an overall lead of 118 runs as the dry wicket continued to favor the spinners.

England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir took the wickets of Abdullah Shafique (4) and captain Shan Masood (4) before finding the edge of Saim Ayub (22) on the last ball before the break and giving Ollie Pope his second catch at second slip .

Debutant Kamran Ghulam, who scored a dream century with Pakistan’s first innings score of 366, remained unbeaten on 5 off 14 balls as England unleashed an all-out spin attack with the new ball.

Khan ended England’s first innings within the first hour after the tourists were on 239-6. Brydon Carse went deep and tried to hit Khan on the leg side for a big shot before left-arm spinner Noman Ali (3-101) picked up his 50th Test wicket as Jamie Smith (21) took the Wicket couldn’t be cleared by fielder at long-off.

Khan then bowled clean to Matthew Potts, who went over his stumps, but the ball whizzed between the batsman’s legs and bounced back off the stumps.

Jack Leach hit a run-a-ball 25 and added 29 runs for the 10th wicket stand with Bashir before Khan abandoned the innings when Bashir’s flamboyant strike against the off-spinner hit the toe end of his bat and into mid-wicket flew.
