1 Pakistan have now become the first team to lose a Test match by an innings margin despite scoring more than 500 runs in an innings. The previous highest total resulting in an innings defeat was 492 by Ireland against Sri Lanka in Galle in 2023.

2 Pakistan became only the second team in first-class cricket to lose by an innings despite a total of over 550. Leicestershire were the first team of this kind, losing to Glamorgan by an innings and 28 runs, despite a total of 584 first innings totals in 2022.

3 There have been instances of England conceding more than 550 goals in a Test innings since Brendon McCullum became their head coach in May 2022. England won all three Tests, the previous two in 2022 – the Nottingham Test against New Zealand and the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s 556 all-outs in the first innings in Multan is now the fifth-highest total to end in defeat in Test cricket. Two of the top four Test aggregate defeats also came to Pakistan.

2004 The last time Pakistan lost a Test by an innings margin was against India in Rawalpindi. Pakistan’s last home innings defeat (in Pakistan or the United Arab Emirates) came against New Zealand in Sharjah in 2014.

The previous highest first innings total resulting in a score was 1236 runs in the 2016 Chennai Test between India and England and the 2022 Rawalpindi Test between Pakistan and England.
