Padres fans say this is “the year” as they pack Gallagher Square for NLDS Game 2

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Even though the Padres were in Los Angeles to face the Dodgers in the National League Division Series, Gallagher Square at Petco Park was packed with fans Sunday.

The faithful came to the watch party from all over, and among the large crowd were some brave souls from LA.

“Do you like public humiliation?” ABC 10News asked a Dodger fan who found himself in the middle of a sea of brown and gold.

“I love it,” the fan said.

As the finale was taped in the Padres’ 10-2 win in Game 2, Padres fans ended the night with a loud cheer that included a “Beat LA!” echoed throughout Gallagher Square, booing Dodgers fans.

“I hear all these boos about you,” said reporter Ava Kershner.

“Oh, it fires me up, baby, it fires me up. I love hearing it,” the Dodger fan said.

Many Padres fans said to get used to it.

“I have nothing to say to him. Our team will show it,” said one Padres fan.

And show it.

Now all eyes are on Tuesday when the Padres return to their fans at Petco Park looking for another big win in Game 3.

“Is there anything you want to say to the Padres players?” ABC 10News asked Yuri Sotello, who was dressed as a monk.

“This is the year. Please look at me. I can’t suffer anymore. Please do it for him and all these other little children. Give us a World Series. Now please,” Sotello said.

Some fans say it’s not that far away

“If we win tonight, we’ll make it to the end,” Padres fan Matt Ottley said.
