Packers Week 5 Injury Report: Jaire Alexander is out for the second straight game

Despite returning to practice at the end of the week, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will not play in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Alexander was one of the Packers listed as inactive for the game before kickoff, meaning he will miss a second straight game. He missed last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a groin injury in practice before that game. Joining Alexander on the inactive list are wide receiver Christian Watson, who injured his ankle in last Sunday’s game and didn’t practice at all during the week, and rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, who was hoping to return after a few weeks away.

However, the Packers have several other members of the team listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, available Sunday. This group includes players like tight end Luke Musgrave, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and cornerback Carrington Valentine. Valentin’s return is particularly important as Alexander is out this week. If Valentine plays, he will likely start at boundary corner opposite Eric Stokes, which should allow Keisean Nixon to return to his usual role in the slot.

Here is the complete list of the Packers’ inactive players this week:

  • CB Jaire Alexander
  • EN Brenton Cox, Jr.
  • OT Travis Glover
  • OL Jordan Morgan
  • WR Christian Watson
  • DT Devonte Wyatt

Meanwhile, the Rams are still without wide receiver Cooper Kupp, while fellow top receiver Puka Nacua remains on injured reserve. That should make the task at least a little less challenging for Valentine and Co. in the Packers’ secondary. The Rams’ inactives are as follows:

  • QB Stetson Bennett
  • OL Geron Christian
  • LB Brennan Jackson
  • DE Desjuan Johnson
  • WR Cooper Kupp
  • RB Cody Schrader
  • CB Tre’Davious White
