A new Pacific Rim prequel series is in the works, diversity reported. Eric Heisserer will develop the show for Legendary Television, the studio behind the upcoming Bene Gesserit-based Dune prequel series Dune: Prophecy.

Heisserer was previously showrunner of the Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone, which ran for two seasons between 2021 and 2023. He also wrote the screenplays for the horror thriller Bird Box and Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction film Arrival, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
