Overlooked driver found dead hours after accident in Kaysville

KAYSVILLE, Utah – The driver of a pickup truck that collided with another vehicle that overturned on a Kaysville road early Wednesday morning was found dead, hours after police had cleared the scene.

The Utah Department of Safety reported that a Chevrolet truck traveling north on the West Davis Corridor at about 1:30 a.m. veered onto the right shoulder of the road. While attempting to rejoin the road, the driver oversteered and lost control, causing the truck to roll into the oncoming lane.

An oncoming Ford F-150 struck the overturned Chevrolet, veered off the right side of the road and crashed through a fence, completely losing power.

A Chevrolet truck is located on SR 177 in Kaysville after it rolled over and was struck by an oncoming Ford F-150.

When officers arrived at the scene, they only saw the Chevrolet and took its driver to the hospital. However, since no one had witnessed the accident, officers did not notice the Ford, which was parked several hundred meters away in the dark.

Hours after the accident scene was cleared and the sun rose around 6:30 a.m., a driver on the West Davis Corridor noticed the Ford truck on the side of the road and called police.

After the new operation, the officers returned to the original scene of the accident and found the truck with the dead driver inside.
