Outlook down? Microsoft confirms problems with the email service, but there is now a solution

Update

The initial feedback looks good and DownDetector outage reports are decreasing, so this could well mean the end of the Outlook outage. If you’re still having problems, email us at [email protected] – we’ll stay vigilant for a while to see if anything else happens!

We have a solution! Microsoft has confirmed that there is a fix and users should restart or refresh their Outlook sessions – hopefully this will work.

Maybe we’ll finally have a breakthrough!

Microsoft says it is in the process of rolling out a possible fix after hopefully identifying the problem – let’s see how it goes…

However, it seems as if Microsoft itself is still struggling to find a concrete solution. His latest tweet states that they are “focused” on figuring out what went wrong.

The end may be in sight – we’re seeing a slight decline in reports, and complaints are certainly declining on Twitter…

Reports have now passed 2,000, meaning the number is still growing – but we’re still waiting for the latest update from Microsoft…

The issue was originally thought to only affect users in Europe (Microsoft’s own tweet even mentioned this) – but as this DownDetector heatmap shows, it’s now spreading across the US as people move in on this day register for work.

Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and said it is trying to reproduce it internally to find out more…

Around 9 a.m. ET, users began reporting problems with Microsoft Outlook, and the number of reports increased as more people log in for work.

The latest figures from outage tracking site DownDetector show a sharp increase in reports throughout the day.
