Oklahoma voters begin casting their ballots

Across Oklahoma, voters waiting in line at their local polling place have started heading inside to cast their ballots on Tuesday.

The Oklahoma State Board of Elections said the state has registered more than 141,000 new voters since January, with all parties seeing an increase in registrations.

Overall, Oklahoma has already reached a milestone, surpassing 2.4 million registered voters as of Nov. 1, according to the board.

With more voters expected to show up on Tuesday, local authorities are ensuring polling stations remain safe.

State and county election officials are working with local law enforcement to ensure polling place security, but are also asking voters to be patient.

“We would like to ask all of our voters to be patient,” said Misha Mohr of the Oklahoma State Election Board. “Be prepared, this is a very big election, so there will be a lot of voters showing up on election day.”

As expected, there will be long queues at polling stations. Be sure to bring the essentials with you. Remember to bring your ID or voter registration card.

If you don’t have a photo ID or voter card, you can still fill out a provisional ballot.

Polling stations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are still in line at 7 p.m. but have not yet cast your vote, stay in line and you will have the opportunity to vote.

If you would like to view a sample ballot before voting or find your polling place, you can find it here on the Oklahoma Voter Portal.
