Obituary for Gwendolyn Crouch Mullican 2024

Gwendolyn Crouch Mullican passed away on August 13, 2024, and entered into the presence of Jesus. She was 81 years old. She was born on September 8, 1942, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Felton and Blanche Crouch (deceased). Gwen also lost the love of her life, Donald Ray Mullican, with whom she shared the sacrament of marriage for 55 years. The two began dating in high school, but had known each other for most of their young lives. After three years of courtship, they were married on August 11, 1960, shortly after Gwen graduated from high school.

Gwen will always be remembered for her unwavering love for her Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who spent more than five minutes with Gwen was sure to learn of her love for Jesus. She taught Sunday school for many years at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, and countless adults still testify that this was one of their most vivid and meaningful memories as children. Women throughout the Franklin community were impacted by Gwen’s decades of involvement with Precept Ministries as an area leader, teacher, and hostess. Her life was marked by generosity, providing meals and support to those in need.

She also loved music. Until two weeks ago, she could still sing her favorite hymns in a respectable contralto voice—with lyrics from beginning to end—even in the midst of the dementia that robbed her of her memory. If you ever asked Gwen what her favorite music was, the music of Bill and Gloria Gaither would be in the top ten list.

Gwen’s family tree includes two children, Ray (Lori) Mullican and their five children – Erin (deceased), Alex (Vergil) Parson, David, Ellie and Keeli, and Mike (Shelia) Mullican and their three children – Kelsey, Jacob and Joshua – and one grandchild, Max. Gwen is also survived by her sister, Connie Hall.

Both the viewing and memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Williamson Memorial in Franklin, Tennessee. The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. and a graveside memorial service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please send gifts in her name to Precept Ministries @ https://give.precept.org/.
