Obama Criticizes Pro-Trump Men at Philadelphia Rally; Springsteen warns that the Republican candidate is an “American tyrant.”

Former President Barack Obama led a brief speech in Philadelphia on Monday in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, criticizing former President Trump in most of his remarks and at one point appearing to admonish men who are more favorable to him as a voting bloc than the Democratic candidate .

Speaking at the Liacouras Center, home of the Temple Owls in North Philadelphia, Obama was joined by a line-up of speakers and performers, including Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Democratic Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr ., D-Pa.

“Don’t do anything and don’t dawdle… get out there,” Obama said, addressing Pennsylvanians who had not yet cast a vote on the penultimate day of early voting.

Obama criticized Trump for what he called the “Muslim ban,” claiming the Republican is denying that he once called fallen American soldiers “losers and suckers.”

“I’ve noticed this, particularly among some men, who seem to think that Trump’s behavior is somehow a sign of strength. You know, kind of macho; Fake macho thing – I’m here to tell you that’s not what true strength is,” Obama said near the end of his speech after criticizing Trump’s rally in New York City for being there featured crude comedian Kill Tony, who called Puerto Rico an “island of trash.”

“How can you tell yourself that it’s OK (to vote for Trump) as long as our side wins?” he said, later adding: “Real strength is about working hard. Real strength is about taking responsibility, and real strength is about telling the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable. Real strength is about feeling comfortable enough to treat everyone with dignity and respect. Real Strength is about helping people who need it and standing up for those who can’t always stand up for themselves.

Obama also mocked Trump for touting “Trump Bibles” that were supposedly made in China.

“He wants you to follow the Word of God; Donald Trump edition,” quipped the name Trump, which appears there essentially “next to Matthew and Luke.”

“You’re a tough guy in China unless you can make a few bucks,” he said, comparing what he saw as Trump’s weaknesses to an “SNL” sketch.

“The man is holding this big rally at Madison Square Garden, and the warm-up speakers said, ‘He’s marching out spreading the most racist, sexist, bigoted stereotypes,'” he said, before describing Kill Tony’s widely criticized performance.

With the crowd often making derisive references to Trump or his surrogates, Obama repeatedly criticized the crowd for the reaction.

“No one can hear your boos, but they can hear your voice,” he said, repeating the theme at various points.

Obama also used Harris’ running mate to take shots at his longtime political nemesis.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has the skills to “take a vintage truck apart and put it back together,” he said.

“Do you think Donald Trump could do that?” he quipped. “Do you think Donald Trump has ever changed a flat tire in his life?” He summons his chauffeur, ‘Jeeves.’

Obama also accused Trump of taking credit for what he described as “his” economy, which he devoted his entire administration to building after the financial crisis under former President George W. Bush.

At one point, the former president took a more personal tone, saying that his father was not present in his home while he was growing up.

Obama, the child of Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham, grew up mostly with Dunham going by her middle name.

“(But) I had people around me; my stepfather, my grandparents, teachers, coaches and most of all my mother who taught me the difference between right and wrong; who showed me what it means to be honest and be responsible, to work hard and to treat other people the way I wanted to be treated myself. And I haven’t always lived those values,” he said.

“As a teenager I partied way too much… but over time I internalized that and tried to live up to them. And I suspect most of you grew up the same way.”

Obama was preceded by a host named John Solomon and, before that, Springsteen, who performed solo versions of “Land of Hope and Dreams” and “Dancing in the Dark.”

Springsteen, who notably performed for then-Illinois Senator Obama during the 2008 cycle on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, attacked Trump during his breaks.

At one point, the 70-year-old Jersey rocker declared: “Donald Trump is running as an American tyrant.”

“This election is about a group of people who want to fundamentally undermine the American way of life. “Donald Trump doesn’t understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American,” “The Boss” added.

Before Springsteen, Casey spoke about the importance of women’s rights and was preceded by Legend, who claimed, “Freedom is at stake in this election.”

“Donald Trump had four years…You saw what he did with those four years…,” said Legend, whose real name is John Stephens.

Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes are considered the proverbial key to the White House.

A spokesman for Team Trump suggested after the rally that Democrats’ decision to put Obama back on the campaign trail was a sign of desperation in the commonwealth.

“Democrats’ continued reliance on celebrities and Barack Obama, a president of more than a decade ago, to promote their party’s presidential candidate is another indication of Kamala’s desire for another four years of unlimited illegal immigration, inflation and wars in the United States Foreign countries are sinking “flat with Pennsylvanians,” said PA Team Trump spokesman Kush Desai.

“Glamourous celebrities and yesterday’s presidents won’t make up for a mediocre message, a disastrous record and a less attractive candidate,” he added.
