NY Lottery: Winner receives $1 million for second-prize Mega Millions ticket

A New York State Lottery player has won second prize in the Mega Millions game.

Dawn Talowski-Tymorek of West Seneca in Erie County, New York, matched the first five numbers in the April 12 Mega Millions drawing to win a second prize worth $1 million, New York Lottery officials said.

The winning numbers for this evening were: 1,12,14,18,66 and Mega Ball 16.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wegmans Food Market, 370 Orchard Park Rd., in West Seneca.

Talowski-Tymorek opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $651,000 after required deductions, according to lottery officials.

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions game are drawn from a field of 1 to 70. The Mega Ball number is drawn from a separate field of 1 to 25. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the gold Mega Ball number.

Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline to purchase a ticket is 10 p.m. on drawing nights.

The draws take place every Tuesday and Friday.

The New York Lottery continues to be the largest and most profitable lottery in North America, contributing $1 billion to support education in New York State in the 2022–23 fiscal year.
