This is from the NWS…

“An extended period of strong northwest to northeast winds is expected across southwest California beginning this evening (Saturday) and continuing through Monday.

The wind will start from the northwest-north tonight and Sunday and then turn to the northeast on Sunday evening and Monday.

Peak gusts of 55 to 80 mph are expected in the mountains, with gusts of 35 to 55 mph expected in coastal and valley areas.

Wind gusts of 25 to 35 knots are expected over coastal waters.

Due to the strong winds, it is possible that trees and power lines could be downed and there is a risk of rapid fire spread if fires re-ignite.”

And more from the NWS on wildfire danger…

“Moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds are expected across Ventura and Los Angeles counties Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.

At the height of the Santa Ana event, northeast winds are expected, with gusts of 55-80 mph in the mountains and 35-55 mph in the valleys.

Due to the strong winds, the relative humidity drops to 15 to 20 degrees.

The strong winds and low humidity, along with critical fuel dryness, will result in widespread critical fire weather conditions in many areas of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, resulting in red flag warnings.

If a fire breaks out, there will likely be rapid fire growth.”
