Google is currently selling so many phones on its website

With the introduction of the Pixel 9 series, I have never seen So many smartphones available on the Google Store. Sure, the Pixel 9 trio is now available for pre-order (along with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold), but those are far from the only devices you can buy right now. Google is still selling the entire Pixel 8 family at full price, along with last year’s Pixel 7a for the exact same price as the Pixel 8a. It’s a bit of a messy lineup, but it could have been messier—the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro only left the site earlier today, as did the Pixel Fold.

What was your first phone?

Everyone remembers their first phone. It was the first time you could call your friends from anywhere, take photos on the go and (depending on your age) play Angry Birds. What was your first phone and what do you remember from it? Do you remember it fondly? Share your memories of your first mobile phone experience!

Do you think a stylus is a plus in mobile phones?

It seems like the stylus is still here to stay for your phone. It’s not permanent for gaming (things like the 3DS stylus have disappeared). Phones like the recent Samsung S24 Ultra have full stylus support, it doesn’t seem like it’s going away. Tablets now seem to be built with them in mind, especially for artistic productivity. Have you started using one? Is there anything stopping you from using it?

Which of this year’s flagship flip phones would you buy?

Thanks to Unpacked, both Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola’s Razr+ were unveiled this week. The Razr+ has a larger cover display, the Z Flip 6 has a faster chipset, but which flip phone would you spend your hard-earned money on this year?

What is the deciding factor for you when buying a phone?

In 2023, more phone plans were purchased than people. Since phones are such a big market, competition is fierce and very high worldwide. In the current market, there is an endless choice for a phone purchase. We are constantly shown ads for the latest, greatest phones from numerous companies around the world. It seems like so many factors come into play in the decision-making process. Some people are loyal to a certain brand because of their special ‘thing’, be it the camera or the model design, everyone has what is important to them. Since choosing a phone is quite a financial decision these days, what is most important to you? What factors are important to you?

The best color variant of the Pixel 9 Pro has a higher starting price than the rest

Traditionally, the new Pixel 9 Pro comes in more subdued colors than the smaller Pixel 9. While the standard Pixel comes in Porcelain, Obsidian, Wintergreen (pastel green) and Peony (a bright pink), Wintergreen is replaced by Hazel (read: gray) on the Pro model and Peony is replaced by a less saturated pink that Google calls Rose Quartz.

We are used to high-end devices having less vibrant colors – a more restrained display corresponds to the Per motif — but things get a little weirder when you look at the storage options available for each Pixel 9 Pro color variant. The Rose Quartz model is only available with 256GB of storage, meaning it’ll cost you at least $1,099 — or $1,199 if you opt for the XL version. Every other color starts at a 128GB configuration, which costs $999 for the small Pro and $1,099 for the Pro XL. There’s also a 512GB variant of every color except Rose Quartz, which costs $1,219/$1,319.
