    Notre Dame football has been a bit of an enigma heading into the 2024 college football season.

    The Fighting Irish have two top-20 wins, but also a narrow home loss to Northern Illinois. After the bye week in week six, Notre Dame returns to action with a game against traditional rival Stanford. The Fighting Irish lead the Cardinals 22-14 in the all-time series, including a 56-13 win at Stanford last season.

    Before the bye week, Notre Dame defeated No. 17 Louisville 34-27 on September 28 on a three-touchdown (two passing, one rushing) by quarterback Riley Leonard. The Fighting Irish have bounced back well from a 16-14 loss in a draw against Northern Illinois on September 7th

    After winning their first ACC game 26-24 against Syracuse on September 20, the Cardinals were outscored 71-21 by Clemson and Virginia Tech in their last two conference games. Last week, the Cardinals were limited to just 258 yards in a loss to the Hokies.
