No. 2 Nebraska women’s volleyball outlasts No. 10 Purdue at home

No. 2 Nebraska holds on, defeating No. 10 Purdue 3-2.

Nebraska’s home winning streak remains intact, stretching to 35 games – the longest in the country. Purdue has gone 0-7 in its last seven games in Lincoln, with the Boilermakers’ last road win coming against the Cornhuskers in 2013.

Neither team could create separation as each set was decided by three points or fewer. In the fifth set, Purdue had match point at 15-14, but Nebraska rallied to take the final set 17-15.

The Cornhuskers won the first set 25-22, but the Boilermakers were resilient tonight, winning the next two sets by a total of five points. But Nebraska didn’t let itself get rattled in front of its roaring home crowd and won the fourth set 25-22.

Purdue (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten) had an impressive .311 batting average tonight, compared to .242 at Nebraska. However, Purdue recorded 19 service errors and the Cornhuskers seven.

Nebraska’s Merritt Beason posted a season-high 22 kills in the win as the Cornhuskers improved their season record to 15-1 and remain undefeated in the Big Ten (5-0).
