Nike’s waterproof Air Force 1 Pro Tech is back in “Sequoia”

The Nike Air Force 1 has been reinvented, reimagined and reissued in nearly every way imaginable over its 40-year history. But in 2023, it managed to break new ground when Beaverton released a series of waterproof versions of Bruce Kilgore’s design that eschewed new material elements. Instead, the “Uptown” aimed for a one-piece construction to serve that function-focused purpose. After a brief hiatus, the Nike Air Force 1 Pro Tech is set to make a major comeback in naturalistic “Sequoia.”

You’ll probably notice the big change right away: an embossed Swoosh showcases the unifying style choice of this Air Force 1 Low, while tumbled leather replaces the typical matte counterpart of the main models. Visually, this seamless vibe is complemented by strong applications of the titular olive green, interrupted only by semi-transparent navy on the outsole.

As with previous releases, the shoe’s new purpose is proudly embossed on the tongue label, with the text “Waterproof” added beneath the typical brand iconography. The waterproof AF1 is still as common a sight on the streets as ever, and the return aims to make it easier to reach for your pair in harsher environments. This will surely be a more common sight the closer we get to FW24.

The Nike Air Force 1 Pro Tech WP “Sequoia” will release in the coming weeks on Nike.com and select retailers. Check out the gallery below for official images while we wait for more details.
