Nia Jax announces WWE international launch date on Netflix

Nia Jax has confirmed that the official launch of WWE on Netflix will take place on January 3rdapprox.

WWE’s departure from mainstream television and Switching to streaming giant Netflix has been highly anticipated since its initial announcement earlier this year. The recent publication of the controversial Documentary by Vince McMahon just added to the hype, and John Cena has confirmed that he will be on the first episode of Raw. Courtesy of WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax, we now know the official international launch date for the Netflix move.

Nia Jax recently shared her thoughts on the historic move to Netflix on the Busted Open podcast, confirming that it will launch on January 3rd:

“I mean, it’s a whole different level of WWE. Nick Khan and Triple H have taken this company to the next level. It’s pretty incredible. We will soon be represented in 80 percent of the world. I was just told that technically January 3rd is the international launch of WWE on Netflix and then January 6th is here in the United States for Raw to be released on Netflix.”

Jax went on to talk about the impact it could have on her and her fellow wrestlers, as her Netflix appearances will quickly make her much more visible to the global WWE audience:

“It will be huge. This is something we’ve never experienced before… I used to be in airports and could definitely be forgotten or unnoticed. But now I think every time we go somewhere, wherever we are… we went to a random local coffee restaurant in Half Moon Bay. They’re like, “It’s Tiffy time!” You know, and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Nia Jax…’ We’re almost so mainstream, which is kind of a cool thing, right? Even though we still feel very humble. But it’s very great.”

The move to Netflix appears to be the start of a whole new era for WWE. There will be several changes, including a switch from three-hour to two-hour programming on Raw. The new year will also see the move of SmackDown on the USA Network and NXT to the CW, with Shawn Michaels confirming that big changes are coming for NXT.

Looking back on the release, Jax admits that while the release was “difficult,” it was “probably the best thing that ever happened to me.”
