NHL action returns Tuesday with the Opening Night tripleheader on ESPN and ESPN+

NHL action returns Tuesday with the Opening Night tripleheader on ESPN and ESPN+

The puck drops on Tuesday for the 2024-25 NHL season, with a tripleheader faceoff on opening night, exclusively on ESPN and ESPN+.

The St. Louis Blues and newly signed forward Dylan Holloway look to make a splash in the season opener when they travel to Climate Pledge Arena to face the Seattle Kraken and center Matty Beniers, who signed a seven-year contract extension this offseason . and new addition Chandler Stephenson at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, featuring Sam Reinhart and Selke Trophy winner Aleksander Barkov, host the Boston Bruins and David Pastrnak in a second-round playoff rematch at 7 p.m. after being eliminated by the Panthers in the previous two postseasons . Prior to the game, the Panthers will see their first championship banner raised at Amerant Bank Arena as part of the Stanley Cup Banner Ceremony.

Then at 10 p.m., the Utah Hockey Club’s highly anticipated debut will take place in front of the home crowd at the Delta Center, with Logan Cooley and newly signed defenseman Mikhail Sergachev taking on the Chicago Blackhawks and last year’s Calder Memorial Trophy winner Connor Bedard – at the end of the evening.

First time for ESPN, analyst Ray Ferraro will be in action for two games on opening night, starting with the Blues-Kraken, then traveling to the nightcap game to call the Blackhawks at Utah Hockey Club.

ESPN’s NHL studio show, The pointreturns Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN+, ahead of the season-opening tripleheader. Steve Levy hosts this week’s show live from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City by a Matchday-Style atmosphere and is accompanied by analysts Mark Messier And PK Subban. The interviews also include the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and owner of the Utah Hockey Club Ryan Smith. The weekly studio show will once again feature ESPN’s live coverage of NHL games, including in-depth analysis of key matchups, league trends, dynamic features and hockey lifestyle coverage.

All episodes of The point will be simulcast live on ESPN+ and available for on-demand viewing.

On Thursday, October 10, former Lightning captain Steven Stamkos and 2023 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jonathan Marchessault make their Nashville Predators debuts in the first ESPN+/Hulu exclusive games of the season when they take on the Nashville Predators at 8 p.m Watch the Dallas Stars and Jason Robertson host ET. At 10:30 p.m., 2024 No. 1 draft pick Macklin Celebrini will make his debut with the San Jose Sharks when they host the Blues and new defenseman Philip Broberg at SAP Center.
